Predicting the stat leaders for the Utah Jazz in 2020-21
The Utah Jazz are led by three players, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Mike Conley. Each of those players will have a say in terms of leading a certain statistical category this year.
Jazz points per game leader: Donovan Mitchell
There weren’t a whole lot of talent evaluators that were expecting this type of offensive explosion from Donovan Mitchell. From the moment he entered the league with the 13th overall pick in 2017, Mitchell was viewed as more of a defensive player. However, with Michell leading the Utah Jazz in points per game for four straight seasons, there’s no reason why he won’t keep that trend going.
Mitchell is coming fresh off a season in which he put together a career-high, 26.4 points per game. He’s also managed to increase his ppg every season. Following in that pattern, we think he’ll take one more leap this upcoming season.
Jazz rebounds per game leader: Rudy Gobert
This one was about as easy as can be. Once Rudy Gobert became a full-time starter in 2015, he’s never averaged anything less than 10.7 rebounds a night. He’s also coming off back-to-back seasons in which he averaged exactly 13.5 rebounds per game. There’s no reason to overthink this one, Gobert is easily going to lead them in crashing the glass.
Jazz assists per game leader: Mike Conley
This one was also relatively easy. Mike Conley isn’t the fanciest passer in the world and he doesn’t always find himself near the top of the NBA leaderboards in that department. Generally speaking, he’ll average about six or seven assists a night but that’ll be more than enough to get the job done on a Jazz team that doesn’t have a ton of players who can dish out a ton of assists.
