Predicting the stat leaders for every NBA team
Predicting the stat leaders for the Detriot Pistons in 2020-21
This current group of Detriot Pistons are a long ways away from contending but the talent they have, particularly at the top, will lead to a surprisingly decent season.
Pistons points per game leader: Jerami Grant
If you were to tell us a season ago that Jerami Grant would be a 20 plus point per game scorer, we’d think that you absolutely lost your mind. That being said, with the opportunity to put up more shots, Grant took full advantage.
What we knew about Grant was that he was a terrific athlete and defensive player. What we didn’t know, is that he’s very good on the offensive end. After averaging a career-best 22.3 points a night, Grant will once again crack through the 20 point per game mark. Most of that will be because this team is bereft of offensive talent. But still, he’ll keep his scoring binge going.
Pistons rebounds per game leader: Isaiah Stewart
With Mason Plumlee out of the equation, Isaiah Stewart will have to take a major leap forward on the glass. The second-year player averaged a solid 6.7 boards in only 21.4 minutes. He could find himself inching towards double double status if he can just find more playing time.
Pistons assists per game leader: Killian Hayes
Killian Hayes should be this teams point guard of the future. In just his first year under the bright lights, he averaged 5.3 dimes a game, good for second on the team.
The biggest issue for Hayes is his inability to shoot, hitting only 27.8% from distance and 35.3% from inside the arc. If he can become more consistent with his shot, he’ll gain more playing time and rack up the assists.
