Predicting the stat leaders for the Orlando Magic in 2020-21
Just about everyone left the Orlando Magic this past season, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be a fun squad to watch all year long.
Magic points and assists per game leader: Jalen Suggs
You’ve gotta feel bad for Markelle Fultz.
The former number one overall pick was a catastrophic bust during his time in Philly. He was given a reprieve of sorts when he made his way to the Orlando Magic. By all accounts, everything appeared to be going well. That is, until Fultz went up for a lay-up and came down holding his knee due to a torn ACL mid-way during this past season.
While we would love to say that he’ll lead the Magic in assists again this year, we simply find that impossible due to the addition of new point man, Jalen Suggs. We know it’s summer league but the fresh-faced point guard averaged 15.3 points and 2.3 assists per game. Considering that the Magic lost their three leading scorers, Suggs is going to have to put the ball up a lot. And while Terrence Ross should receive a considerable bump in production, we have a feeling that he’ll still be forced to come off the bench again and could be used as a trade chip down the line.
Suggs is going to have the ball in his hands a lot and he should be able to create offense for everyone out there, leading to him holding the top spot in both assists and points per game.
Magics rebounds per game leader: Wendell Carter Jr.
In terms of rebounding, Wendell Carter Jr. is the clear play here. After averaging 8.8 during his brief time in Orlando, his minutes will only increase. Also, without a true big man other than himself on the roster, Carter Jr. is going to be the Magic’s main man when it comes to keeping opposing bigs off the glass.
