Where do Ben Simmons and John Wall stand as the Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets look to trade the pair?

While it is feasible to say that Morey is overvaluing Simmons to some degree with his asking price in trade negotiations, he is still a solid player. At just 25-years-old, Simmons has three All-Star selections, two All-Defensive nods, and an All-NBA nod. While his recent failures from the 2021 playoffs have clouded Simmons’ image, Morey rightfully does not want to trade him just for the sake of getting him off the books.

As a five-time All-Star, former All-NBA, and All-Defensive guard, Wall has built up a solid résumé for himself throughout his time in the NBA as well. There was a time where Wall was categorized in the upper echelon of point guards or at least knocking on the door. However, the last few years have not been kind to the 31-year-old as he has been bombarded by an assortment of injuries. This has limited him to just 113 games over the last four seasons, which included missing the 2019-20 season in its entirety.

Wall was fortunate enough to return to action this past season with the Rockets, and honestly, he put up quality numbers on the surface. The guard averaged 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.1 steals across 40 games, having made the most of his time when he was on the floor. Yet, his shooting splits were far from the gaudiest, having shot 40.4 percent from the floor and 31.7 percent from 3-point range. Some of that can be attributed to rust, absolutely, but with a career field goal percentage of 43.1 percent and a 3-point percentage of 32.3 percent, the guard has not been classified as an efficient scorer throughout his career.
