Los Angeles Lakers NBA free agency move No. 8: Kendrick Nunn

The Lakers signed Kendrick Nunn to a two-year, $10.3 million deal this offseason. After the Milwaukee Bucks bunded the Heat out of the first round of the playoffs last season, he was never going to get close to this money had he stayed.

While Nunn is a tremendous story of self-belief and determination, his lack of competitive defense meant that the Heat decided to look elsewhere for his offensive production. The Lakers are now the next chapter in Nunn’s NBA career which has the chance to be very exciting.

Nunn was playing with the Golden State Warriors G-League affiliate in the 2018 season before being waived. The Heat then picked him up and he showed so much in the summer league that he signed a four-year deal, the final two years were not guaranteed. The Heat did not pick up Nunn’s final two years of his deal.

Nunn should be a nice fit with the Lakers, despite his lack of defense. He is part of a strong guard rotation, most of which can defend pretty well. He also has the defensive presence of Jordan and Davis, and hopefully Howard to alleviate some of his defensive failings.

Grade: A-
