Los Angeles Lakers NBA free agency move No. 6: DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan has had an interesting time since he left Los Angeles the first time. Originally taken by the LA Clippers in the 2008 NBA draft with the 35th pick, Jordan turned himself into an incredible rebounder and rim-protector.

He signed with the Dallas Mavericks in 2018 before being traded to the New York Knicks as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal. The next season he signed with the Brooklyn Nets but as players have flocked to the Nets to try for a championship, Jordan was traded to the Detroit Pistons.

The Pistons then bought out the big man which allowed him to sign on with the Lakers. With Marc Gasol being moved on, the Lakers are looking for a player who protects the rim a lot better than Gasol did, they are looking for a role player similar to Howard and JaVale McGee during their championship season.

The difference this season is that the Lakers do not have the same level of floor spacing that they did in 202. They have a whirlwind at point guard in Russell Westbrook who knows how to use his big men as shown by his relationship with Steven Adams during his OKC Thunder days so there is a chance it may work.
