Los Angeles Lakers NBA free agency move No. 10: Carmelo Anthony

Camelo Anthony is an 18-year veteran of the league but his career could have been over back in 2019. He was the player blamed for the Rockets’ lack of success after he was signed by the franchise during that offseason.

No other franchise would take a chance on Anthony during that season. It was not until the next season when the Portland Trail Blazers were in the middle of a terrible injury crisis that they famously turned to the veteran.

After playing with them for two seasons, Anthony is now trying to get something that has eluded him for his career, an NBA championship. He has the ability to come off the bench and score in bunches which is going to help the team no end, even at the age of 37.

Anthony has developed the ability to be a third or fourth option. He began that process during his time with the OKC Thunder, when he was the third option behind Westbrook and Paul George. Now Anthony has embraced that role with a great level of success. If his body can hold up, Anthony will be a crucial member of this team.
