Lakers prediction No. 3: The young guys play much more than expected

In an average NBA team, the term “young guys” is used to describe rookies and sophomores. On the Lakers, you’re pretty much considered fresh blood if you were born after the Ronald Reagan presidency.

With an average age of 31.6 years old, the Lakers are way ahead of everybody else in this specific statistical category. On the one hand, as they say, with age comes wisdom. On the other hand, the old-timers may find it a bit hard to go the full length of the season without rest.

This is where the trio of Tucker, Monk and Nunn come into play. A full 82-game season might be a bit too much to handle for the older guys in the team, especially after two consecutive seasons with fewer games.

Whether you are a Lakers fan or not, we all pretty much had the same reaction to their free agency news. Initially impressed by Rob Pelinka’s managerial capabilities to find a way to finance these deals, but ultimately feeling that they got much more than they needed.

They probably had this exact thing in mind, that their stars might not be needed as much throughout the regular season and could use a game’s rest.
