Miami Heat offseason signing No. 7: Duncan Robinson

One of the players that the Heat were most likely to lose this offseason was Duncan Robinson. While he is a very offensive-orientated player, Robinson has a skill that almost every team in the NBA is chasing. He can shoot the 3-ball extremely well.

He does not do much else on the court, given that over his three-year career he has taken 9.1 shots attempts per game from the floor and 7.8 of them have been from behind the long line. This is a true case of a player finding their niche and exploiting it to their advantage.

Robinson, in his three years of NBA action, has shot the 3-ball at 42.3 percent which is up there with the elite players of the game. He needs to continue to shoot at this level to justify the contract that he just signed.

The Heat signed him to a five-year, almost $90.0 million deal which seems a lot for a very one-way player. However, because of the floor spacing, this allows Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry to be more creative. It also allows the Heat’s big men more room to move inside the paint which will allow for better production.
