New York Knicks free agent signing No. 6: Kemba Walker

Again the Knicks have been the beneficiary of the OKC Thunder rebuild. They wanted another first-round pick in the draft and as a result, they traded Al Horford to the Boston Celtics and received Kemba Walker in return. They then bought out his contract which allowed the Knicks to pounce.

The Knicks were able to sign him to a two-year, $18.0 million deal which appears to be a good value deal for a player with Walkers’ talent. However, there is a potential issue for the Knicks with this signing.

The Celtics had expressed concerns over Walker’s ability to play up to his normal level, or play out a full season thanks to his troublesome knees. If he is able to take the court then Walker will take the Knicks to the next level, meaning that they should be a lock for the playoffs.

If his knees do not hold out then this could be a very unwise move, given that the Knicks are looking for a deep playoff run. With that being said, Walker will do everything that he can to get on the floor and have a positive impact on the team.

Grade: Cautious A-
