Best trios in NBA history: 28. Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol

  • Conley: 15.2 ppg, 6 apg
  • Randolph: 16.2 ppg, 10.2 rpg
  • Gasol 15.1 ppg, 8.5 rpg
  • Finals record: 0-0
  • Time together: 2010-2017

They were called grit and grind for a reason. The Memphis Grizzlies trio of Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol, meshed together beautifully for eight seasons together.

Their roles were simplistic but efficient. Randolph was the bully down on the block. Sure on occasion, he would take his defender on the outside before drilling a left handed jumper in their face, but for the most part, he wanted to do all of the dirty work down low. He averaged 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds while making one All-Star game during his eight-year run with Conley and Gasol.

Gasol easily had the most accolades of the bunch. He was a three-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection, and former Defensive Player of the Year. Conley though, made everything work. Outside of his 2016-17 season in which he averaged 20.5 points a night, Conley never averaged more than 17.2 points per game but it was his on-ball defense and ability to control the game that made him so valuable.

The Grizzlies trio would win 373 total games and made a postseason run in seven of their eight years together. Ultimately, they failed to make it over the hump and reach the NBA Finals. Still, teams knew that when they were entering the “Grind House” it was going to be a long night.
