While NBA trios are more relevant today than ever, they’ve always been around. From Bill Russell dominating the league with Sam Jones and Tom Heinsohn to LeBron James teaming up with several stars to create more than one All-Star studded trio, the league has always been about teaming up.

Once on the same team, that’s when the fun truly begins. How badly are those star players willing to sacrifice their own statistical numbers for the betterment of the team?

For the most part, winning an NBA Championship is the end goal. But just because that isn’t accomplished, that doesn’t mean a team won’t make an appearance on this list. There are simply too many teams that carried three legitimate star players, to categorize them as failures for not winning it all. We will, however, deduct a few points from them.

With so many trios to choose from, we listed the best of the very best in NBA history. If the ball bounced innocuously in one direction over the years, a few of these teams would have vaulted up our list. Be that as it may, history can’t be re-written.
