Phoenix Suns NBA free agency move No. 3: The trade for Landry Shamet

Landry Shamet has had three homes in his three seasons in the NBA. When he takes the court in the 2021-22 season, the Phoenix Suns will be his fourth team. He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers where he played his first 54 games before being traded to the LA Clippers.

Shamet played a season and a half with the Clippers, before being sent to the Brooklyn Nets. Every team that Shamet has played for has utilized his 3-point shooting ability. He has taken 72.6 percent of all of his shots in the league from beyond the 3-point line.

This is something that the Suns are going to exploit next season. Shamet has made 39.7 percent of his shots from behind the line and has averaged 9.2 points per game during his three seasons in the league. His lowest season per game average is 9.1 points per game and his highest is 9.3 per game so it is safe to say that Shamet is fairly consistent.

Shamet is in the final year of his rookie deal so if he does not work out this season, the Suns can simply move on from the 6’4″ guard. The Suns are looking for an advantage to try and get over the hump next season and Shamet might be the man to help them do this.
