Memphis Grizzlies: 3 players that could be traded before 2021-22 season
By Dalton Sell
The Memphis Grizzlies have certainly been busy this offseason by making a slew of interesting trades to reshape their roster.
They kicked things off with a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans that revolved around swapping their starting centers, shifting around Steven Adams and Jonas Valanciunas. The Grizzlies acquired Eric Bledsoe in that deal as well, but he was not around long as they sent him to the LA Clippers in a separate deal involving Patrick Beverley and Rajon Rondo.
Beverley would not even get the chance to have a cup of coffee in Memphis as he was traded away once again, this time to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a move for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez.
The Grizzlies also traded Grayson Allen to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for two future second-round picks and Sam Merrill, which was certainly an unexpected move given how Allen had fit into the rotation.
What is the motivation behind the Memphis Grizzlies making all these trades?
Following these trades, it seems clear that the Grizzlies are looking to add youth and future draft capital. Given that they are a young team led by a 22-year-old star in Ja Morant, it appears they are complement with playing the waiting game and stockpiling for the future. After making the playoffs this past season, it is an interesting course of action, and time will tell how it ultimately works out as the team will look far different next season.
Despite the handful of moves they have made this offseason, recent rumors suggest that they might not be done on the trade market just yet. Reports continue to surface that Memphis has some key players available in trade talks, which should catch the attention of other teams as the Grizzlies have shown a willingness to sell recently. With that being said, here are three Grizzlies that could still be traded before the 2021-22 NBA season begins in October.
