Milwaukee Bucks: Grading free agency moves — Signing George Hill
Reuniting with George Hill was an excellent move for the Milwaukee Bucks. Hill was waived by the Sixers to save money on their part, and the Bucks, who had a void at the backup point guard role, swooped in at the right time.
Hill was signed to a two-year, $8.0 million fully guaranteed deal, and the Bucks used part of its MLE (mid-level exception) to make the signing. The veteran guard played one and a half seasons for the Bucks from 2019 to 2020 and now returns to the team after a one-year breakup.
Milwaukee already knows what they’re investing in with Hill’s ability to defend, create for others, score from all angles, and lead at a high level. He’s very well respected in that locker room and should be welcomed back with open arms.
Ever since the Bucks acquired Hill from Cleveland in 2019, he’s been a productive asset that fits well within Mike Budenholzer’s system and schemes. It’s also noteworthy that the 13-year veteran shot a career-high 46.0 percent from behind the arc in his last season stint with Milwaukee.
George Hill will be an important contributor off the bench for the Bucks once again and paying him $4.0 million annually should be worth the value moving forward.
