Milwaukee Bucks: Grading free agency moves — Signing Rodney Hood

After being waived by the Toronto Raptors, Rodney Hood and his representatives came to terms on an agreement to sign a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks worth $2.2 million. Hood has been an efficient shooter and established scorer throughout the majority of his seven-year career, but serious injuries have held him back over the last few years.

The former Duke standout was drafted 23rd overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2014 NBA Draft and has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers, and briefly for Toronto before now coming to Milwaukee. Hood has career averages of 11.3 points per game on 36.7 percent shooting from 3-point range.

It’s safe to say that health will determine Hood’s value to the Bucks in this coming season. He hasn’t looked like himself since 2019 due to injuries and may not be ready to suit up for the season opener, so time will tell whether this deal will pay off for the Bucks. It would certainly be great value for Milwaukee if the sharpshooting wing was able to find his groove again, especially since he’s on a low-risk, minimum deal.
