Reasons for Pistons player rating movement on NBA 2K

It’s safe to assume that players who get to put in plenty of minutes with Cade Cunningham are going to have the opportunity to shine, and they should expect their player ratings to go up as the season progresses. Jerami Grant may be the biggest recipient of this as the two of them are likely to play heavy minutes together, and Cunningham is certain to make his life easier as time goes on.

Players who are less likely to play the bulk of their minutes with Cunningham are similarly less likely to realize their potential upside. Saben Lee, Sekou Doumbouya and Josh Jackson, for example, are almost certainly going to be coming off the bench and they won’t have the same kinds of opportunity to flourish that their starting-lineup mates will.

Killian Hayes may find himself with a disappointing NBA 2K rating in particular after a disappointing shooting performance in the Las Vegas Summer League. He showed improvement from what we last saw at the end of the 2020-21 season from a physicality perspective and some shot-making around the basket, but he didn’t show any real improvement as a shooter and that’s going to hamper his perception in this game.
