Brooklyn Nets

Projected wins: 55

Eastern Conference standings: 1st

James Harden was on an MVP pace before he strained his hamstring, and Kevin Durant was on an MVP pace before his own injuries sidelined him for portions of the season. It’s possible that the Nets have the two best players next season between this duo, and that’s to say nothing of Kyrie Irving who is also a legitimate superstar. The Brooklyn Nets could absolutely run roughshod through the NBA next season with even a modicum of health. If they stay healthy throughout the roster, there’s no stopping them.

Charlotte Hornets

Projected wins: 35

Eastern Conference standings: 13th

LaMelo Ball is entering his second season as the NBA’s Rookie of the Year, and he should only go up from here. That doesn’t necessarily constitute wins for his team, however. They lost Devonte’ Graham, added Kelly Oubre Jr. and Ish Smith in free agency (among others), and drafted a young potential star in James Bouknight. The sky should be the limit for this team down the road, but they’re too young to be expected to make real noise in the Eastern Conference just yet.
