Chicago Bulls NBA free agency grades: DeMar DeRozan signing

The Chicago Bulls concluded day two of free agency with their biggest move yet.

They acquired one of the biggest names in the entire class when they brought in DeMar DeRozan to a three-year, $85 million deal. This took a sign and trade with the Chicago Bulls that sent Thaddeus Young, a future first-round pick, and two future second-round picks in return for DeRozan.

Getting rid of Young while tough as he spent years with the Bulls, does not mean too much in terms of on-court production. Time will tell on what the Bulls will be losing in terms of draft capital, however, it is likely with the roster they now have, their first-round picks for years to come will be far out of the lottery.

The three-year deal will keep DeRozan on the team until he is 34 years old which may be a little concerning for Chicago.

While this is a lot to commit to a player of his age, DeRozan has aged well up to this point in his career. DeRozan has yet to dip below 20 points per game since the 2012-2013 season.

DeRozan was the missing piece to the Bulls having one of the more formidable lineups in the Eastern Conference. However, there is a chance he begins to regress before his contract expires.
