The Chicago Bulls opened free agency with a bang. They performed a sign and trade with the New Orleans Pelicans that netted them Lonzo Ball.
The Bulls sent Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple, and a second-round pick. As a part of the deal, Temple signed a three year $15 million contract with the third year nonguaranteed.
In return, the Bulls received Ball on a new four-year, $85 million deal. This is a trade that worked out perfectly for both sides.
The Chicago Bulls opened up free agency by performing a sign-and-trade that landed them Lonzo Ball. He will play a big role for them next season.
For the Bulls, they got their point guard of the future on a long term deal. Meaning that he will be the floor general in Chicago for years to come.
In return, the Pelicans got something for Ball rather than letting him walk for nothing. It was clear coming into free agency that the Pelicans would not be keeping Ball around.
Their plans for the future revolve around a nucleus of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. If Ball was kept on the roster, there would not be enough money left to build a championship contending team around the previously mentioned duo.
However, with the addition of Ball, the Bulls should be a sure thing for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference this season. It has been made evident that they are done with their rebuild and they are going to ride with their core of Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and now Lonzo Ball and see where they can take them.
Ball is a perfect fit on this team and he will be bringing a lot to the Bulls.
