Pistons targets in NBA free agency to pair with Cade Cunningham: 2. Kelly Olynyk
The Piston-killer of old himself, Kelly Olynyk is set to hit free agency, and again according to Scotto, the Pistons are interested. After getting traded from the Miami Heat, where he had a mediocre season by his standards, to the Houston Rockets, he had the run of his life.
He averaged 19.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 31.1 minutes per game and had splendid shooting splits of 55-39-84. Obviously, he did not contribute to winning as the Rockets ended up with the NBA’s worst record and they only won five of the 27 games he played, so there may be a “looter in a riot” element in play here where he was one of just a few NBA-ready guys in the rotation and he made the most of it from a statistical point of view.
Be that as it may, Olynyk is a known commodity and if the price is right, he and the Pistons may be able to come to a deal. Considering the recent hole that has opened up at the center spot, the fit is certainly there and he could be a dynamic running-mate on the offensive end alongside Cade Cunningham.
