Milwaukee Bucks: Patty Mills and 2 other targets in NBA free agency
Milwaukee Bucks targets in NBA free agency: 3. Jeff Green
Lastly, veteran forward Jeff Green could emerge as a free agent target for the Milwaukee Bucks if they can’t retain Bobby Portis. The Bucks know Green very well from just competing against him in the postseason as a member of the Brooklyn Nets.
At 34 years old, he continues to serve as a valuable role player on both ends of the floor with his ability to efficiently knock down perimeter shots and defend multiple positions at a high level. Green averaged 11.0 points per game on 49.2 percent field goals and 41.2 percent from 3-point range during the regular season last year with Brooklyn and recorded 8.2 points per game on an ultra-impressive 55.6 percent shooting from 3.
Milwaukee reportedly has interest in Green, but won’t pursue him if both Tucker and Portis are re-signed, which seems unlikely at this point. There should be mutual interest, but Green will likely cost more than the veteran minimum this time around. He’s clearly played himself above that tag.
If the Bucks are willing to invest in Jeff Green, who could be utilized as a versatile stretch-four off the bench and provide options with small-ball lineups, they could end up using the TPMLE on him. However, the priority would be using it to retain Portis or on a valuable guard like Patty Mills.
Other realistic options for the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency could include Paul Millsap, Garrett Temple, JaMychal Green, Mike Muscala, and maybe even a reunion with Tony Snell.
