NBA Free Agency: 3 best landing spots for Evan Fournier

The NBA season is officially over after the Milwaukee Bucks captured their first title in 50 years. For many fan bases, however, attention has already turned towards NBA free agency, where a number of players are ready to intrigue teams, like Evan Fournier.

Fournier was in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career when he was dealt by the Orlando Magic to the Boston Celtics at the trade deadline. Shortly thereafter, the guard contracted COVID and didn’t look like the same player.

Evan Fournier could score a solid deal for a swingman this summer, either from the Boston Celtics or in NBA free agency elsewhere.

In his first game with the Celtics, Fournier drew the condemnation of the fans after playing 33 minutes without scoring a single point. He did manage to make up for it just days later with a career-high seven three-pointers. But he also missed several games due to health and safety protocols, ultimately a mixed bag for the Frenchman.

Fournier signed his massive five-year, $85 million deal with the Magic in 2016 after they extended him a qualifying offer, so this is his first real shot at unrestricted free agency, perhaps his best bite out of the apple. He’ll be 28 years old during the 2021-22 season and at his best, is an elite shooter in the NBA.

The current free agent crop is not one of the best in recent league history. That could result in a great deal for the swingman, who is probably one of the 25 best free agents available this summer. If a team can overlook his questionable defense, they’ll like what they see.
