The Chicago Bulls should pursue Derrick Rose in 2021 NBA free agency

Looking to make the jump into contention next season, the Chicago Bulls badly need a point guard, and it appears they have some interest in Rose.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Rose could be a name to monitor on Chicago’s wishlist this offseason as they scour the market for a floor general. Of course, Rose started his career with the Bulls after they selected him first overall in the 2008 NBA Draft, so this would certainly be quite the storied reunion for the two sides. However, this signing would be far more than just a sentimental move, as Rose could genuinely help this team take that next step.

The Bulls have a lethal tandem in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, but they need that third piece to help round out a trio. While Rose might not be their first choice in a free-agent class that is stacked with talent at the point guard position, he could be a solid fallback option. The veteran would bring some much-needed leadership to this franchise that is looking to make its way into contention, and his presence would undeniably help lead this group. His production would also be a massive boost, giving them a trusted floor general in the backcourt that can score, facilitate, and make the right decisions on a nightly basis.

Chicago has been a revolving door for point guards since Rose was traded away back in 2016, and perhaps they could look to make amends by bringing him back in 2021 NBA Free Agency.
