2018 NBA draft: Re-grading Pick Number 3. Luka Doncic: A+
On the complete other end of the spectrum, the Dallas Mavericks trading up to take the next face of their franchise was a home run the moment they called it into the league. While three teams chose not to make him a part of their future, the Mavericks changed the course of their future.
Luka Doncic is only three seasons in and has already made two All-NBA teams and two All-Star teams. He is averaging 25.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. Doncic has become the prototype for the young guard/forward that offenses are built around. He continues to develop as a shooter, expanding the floor for his teammates. If the rest of the organization can get on the same page with their blossoming superstar the sky is truly the limit.
Doncic is the player in this draft who profiles as the future face of the league. Trae Young (more on him shortly) showed during this playoff run that he is not to be trifled with and will be an All-Star for years to come but Doncic is still something different. He is more durable, he is a better rebounder and he has shown himself to be a cult of personality not just in the postseason, but throughout the duration of his time in the league. The gap is getting closer, but the edge still goes to Luka Doncic.
