2018 NBA draft: Re-grading Pick Number 20. Josh Okogie: C+

Josh Okogie currently falls in the line of average pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves because of the level of games they are playing. Okogie is the type of player who will only get better as the stage gets bigger. He is a stout defender. On a team without a true rebounder outside of Karl-Anthony Towns Okogie holds his own on the glass from the shooting guard position. When the Timberwolves are ready to compete for more than ping-pong balls (which could be as soon as next season), Okogie playing his role will be a part of what keeps the team in games.

Furthermore, Okogie is one of the few players in this draft class already representing his country in the Olympics. He was a member of the Nigerian National Team that handed the United States an upset in a scrimmage earlier this month. Plenty of focus is paid to what playing on a higher stage will do for the American players. Moving away from being myopic, it is equally important for players like Okogie to show what they are capable of for both themselves and the league at large.

This pick will only get better with time. The Timberwolves are starting to build a cohesive plan for competing for the playoffs soon. Okogie is part of that plan.
