2018 NBA draft: Re-grading Pick Number 13. Jerome Robinson: F

The lack of impact for Jerome Robinson would have been painful enough in a vacuum, so that is where we will start. He appeared in just 33 games for the LA Clippers as a rookie and was then shipped to the Washington Wizards in the middle of his second season. He would go on to appear in 38 games over two seasons with the Wizards before being waived. Robinson is going to be hoping to find his way back into the league during free agency this summer but the case to bring him back is not an easy one to make.

This season before ultimately getting waived, Robinson averaged 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists with an effective field goal percentage of 35.3. His development was tracking in the wrong direction and finding himself without a job before getting through a third season is a terrible sign.

Then comes the context, and the pick becomes even tougher to justify. At the time the Clippers were an up-and-coming team building a foundation that would lead to them being able to trade for Paul George and sign Kawhi Leonard. Shai Gilgeous Alexander was the perfect prospect for the situation. Armed with the benefit of having two top 13 picks the Clippers could have afforded to take the risk on the medical history of Michael Porter Jr.
