Former Minnesota Timberwolves players in Big3: 3. Chris Johnson

Chris Johnson is a name that you definitely don’t remember in terms of Minnesota Timberwolves basketball. Johnson’s NBA career was very brief and he never stayed in one place for very long at all. He spent 30 of his 71 career games on the Timberwolves and that was the longest he stayed on a team. He also played for the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Hornets.

Johnson only started a single game in his career and it was the final game of the 2010-2011 season, a Trail Blazers near 30 point loss to the Golden State Warriors. In that game, he shot 1-of-8 from the field and recorded 8 points and 13 rebounds in 40 minutes of play. While he was on the Timberwolves, he averaged 3.9 points, 2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 64 percent from the field. He didn’t attempt a 3-pointer in his career.

Since leaving the NBA he has bounced around overseas, playing in China, Lebanon, Japan and Bahrain. He most recently played in the NBL in New Zealand with the Auckland Huskies. Johnson was the 2nd overall pick in the Big3 draft in 2019 by the Triplets but was traded to the Ghost Ballers midseason. In his three games this season with the Ghost Ballers, Johnson has averaged 11.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block per game. As previously mentioned, the Ghost Ballers are in a six-way tie for second in the Big3 with a 2-1 record.
