Former Minnesota Timberwolves players in Big3: 2. Ricky Davis

Many people remember former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Ricky Davis for not just his great, yet brief, time in Minnesota or his dunk contest classic with Vince Carter, but also the infamous Jazz-Cavaliers game when he intentionally shot on the wrong hoop in order to get another rebound for his first career triple double.

Davis had a slow start to his career before picking up steam in Cleveland. He ended up getting traded from the Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics where he played for about two seasons. In 2006, Davis was traded from Boston to the Timberwolves in the trade that sent Wally Szczerbiak and Michael Olowokandi to the Celtics.

In his season and a half in Minnesota, Davis appeared in 117 games, starting every one of them. He averaged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game on 45.2 percent shooting from the field and  36.5 percent from behind the arc as a member of the Timberwolves. The team went 46-78 during Davis’s tenure in Minnesota, never finishing better than the 12th seed in the Western Conference.

Davis is in his third season with the Big3’s Ghost Ballers and he’s been a force to be reckoned with. He led the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocks in 2019. He was also extremely productive in 2018 when he led the league in scoring. Currently, he only averages 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while the Ghost Ballers are in a six-way tie for second place in the league at 2-1.
