The Denver Nuggets had another really good season in 2020-21 finishing third in the Western Conference behind the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns. They did this on the back of the MVP season had by Nikola Jokic.

Jokic, the 41st pick in the 2014 draft averaged 26.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 34.6 minutes per game. He shot the ball well, going at 56.6 percent from the floor, 38.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.8 percent from the line.

What makes this performance even more special is that he lost his point guard 48 games into the season with a knee injury. Jamal Murray had been averaging 21.2 points, 4.8 assists, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals in 35.5 minutes per game. He helped space the floor for Nurkic, shooting the 3-ball at 40.8 percent on the season.

The Denver Nuggets almost reaching the top of the standings last season. Here are four roster moves they need to make to take the next step.

The Nuggets lost the talents of Jerami Grant prior to the season starting after he requested a trade. They traded him to the Detroit Pistons, receiving cash as the only compensation for the combination forward. They did make another trade where they sent out a draft pick and received the 19-year-old R.J. Hampton in return

They also lost Torrey Craig, a key player in their defensive schemes during free agency. However, the Nuggets were not done there, they continued to make moves throughout the season.  They traded Isaiah Hartenstein to the Cleveland Cavaliers for JaVale McGee.

They also sent Hampton and Gary Harris to the Orlando Magic and received Gary Clark and Aaron Gordon in return. The last move the Nuggets made during the season was to sign Austin Rivers to an end-of-season contract.

With all that in mind, let’s take a look at the five roster moves the Denver Nuggets need to make.
