Warriors picks in the NBA draft: 3. Damian Jones

Damian Jones was selected with the 30th pick of the 2016 NBA draft.

Jones had the potential to play the typical center role on the Warriors during the era in which they drafted him. Similar to the potential role that was previously explained for Udoh, ironically who he was compared to coming into the league by nbascoutingreport.net.

Coming into the league, Jones had the perfect skill set for this. He was athletic enough to stay ahead of the defense, set screens, and catch lobs. Along with this, on the defensive end, he had potential and athleticism to be a great rim protector and was even quick enough to play in a small ball lineup.

If he was given more of a chance on the team and taken under the wing of Draymond Green and Demarcus Cousins, Jones could have evolved into the perfect center for the Warriors early in his career.

Since his time on the Warriors, Jones has bounced around the league and spent a short amount of time on the Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings.

He is still a young player with a lot of upside. It would have been great to see him blossom in Golden State, however, it appears that he will only be another pick that we wish would have worked out.
