Milwaukee Bucks: 5 realistic targets with the No. 31 pick – Josh Christopher
Another target for the Milwaukee Bucks could be freshman Josh Christopher out of Arizona State University. The 6’5″ shooting guard has been rising up draft boards lately and will be an intriguing prospect for teams that are selecting in the late first-round or early second-round.
In his lone season with the Sun Devils, Christopher averaged 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on 43.22 percent field goals and 30.5 percent from 3 on just 59 attempts. As a young stud, the 19-year-old has only shown flashes of what he’s capable of executing at the next level. He has a high ceiling for an athletic, multi-dimensional scorer and promising defender with a large frame and intimidating physicality.
Christopher is a score-first guard for all the right reasons. He can score from all angles on the court, has a strong pull-up game, excels in transition, and can consistently create his own shot off the dribble. What’s most impressive about his game is his confidence to hit such tough, contested jumpers, and he’s also an underrated ball-handler.
Additionally, his upside on the defensive end speaks volumes with his power, control, and athleticism. He’s still young so his defensive prowess is still a bit raw along with his decision-making, but he’ll become more consistent at all aspects over time and development.
Josh Christopher may not be a lock to earn an immediate rotational role with the Milwaukee Bucks, but could be worth a flyer as a promising asset with optimistic two-way potential if still available once they’re on the clock.
