Los Angeles Lakers: Why they should not trade for Russell Westbrook
By Zamir Bueno
Lakers alternatives to a Russell Westbrook trade: 1. Kemba Walker
Walker has made 38.9 percent of his catch and shoot threes on 2.7 attempts. Catch and shoots were responsible for 39.1 percent of those attempts as he has shot 36.7 percent from behind the arc on 6.9 attempts.
‘More importantly, Walker is capable of allowing Davis and James to play in the frontcourt as he also excels with the ball in his hands. Walker has averaged 10.5 pick and rolls per game since 2015, shooting 43.2 percent from the field on 8.6 shots per game. The shooting percentage has allowed him to score 10.4 points per game: 46.8 percent of his scoring output.
Furthermore, it would be simple for the team to acquire him as the Oklahoma City Thunder are reportedly trying to find another destination for Walker because he doesn’t fit their timeline. Oklahoma City Thunder is only aiming to get a 1st round pick in a trade for Walker, similar to what they have done with previous players they have acquired who have big contracts.
Consequently, the Lakers could offer Kyle Kuzma and Caldwell-Pope in the first-round pick for the services of Walker.
