Memphis Grizzlies: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
The Memphis Grizzlies had a good season in 2020-21. They had a 38-34 record which was the first time they had a record over .500 in the last four seasons. It was also the first time that they made the playoffs in four seasons.
The Grizzlies got in on the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers trade which sent Enes Kanter to the Blazers. The Grizzlies gave up cash and two future second-round picks but what they got back in return was a big part of their future as well as Mario Hezonjia who they then waived.
They received the 30th pick in the 2020 NBA draft, Desmond Bane, who took a while to get going but showed that he has some serious potential towards the end of the season.
The Memphis Grizzlies were impacted badly by injuries this season
The injury which impacted the Grizzlies the most was to Jackson. He only managed to play 11 games this season which had a massive impact on his production. Had he been able to play the full season, the Grizzlies may have been able to finish higher in the competitive Western Conference.
On top of that, De’Anthony Melton missed 21 games, Grayson Allen missed 22 games, Brandon Clarke missed 13 games, and Jonas Valanciunas missed ten games. It is very hard to gain any sort of momentum if key players miss this many games.
With all of this in mind, let’s take a look at the five offseason roster moves the Memphis Grizzlies need to make.
