Boston Celtics: 3 picks from the 2010s we wish would have worked out
By Zane Harris
Boston Celtics draft picks we wish had worked out: 3. Matisse Thybulle
Matisse Thybulle was selected with the 20th pick of the 2019 draft. However, they traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers before he even suited up for the Celtics. The trade sent Thybulle to the 76ers in return, the Celtics received the 24th and 33rd picks. With these picks, the Celtics received Ty Jerome and Carsen Edwards.
Thybulle has had a very great start to his career. While it is likely he will never be a star player in the NBA, he will be a player that has a long and successful career in the league.

He had a slight slump in his rookie to sophomore season on the offensive end, however, he took a huge step up defensively. Thybulle was named to the 2020-2021 All-Defensive team which is an extremely high honor for being such a young player.
Typically, players do not come into the league with the ability to play even average defense. However, with Thybulle already being at this level defensively, the sky is the limit for him as a defender.
He would be the perfect player for the Celtics along with any other team in the league.
Thybulle is a player that would fit well on any roster. He is a great 3-and-D player (mind you, more D than 3) who shows signs of only improving the longer he spends in the league.
Lastly, he does not need the ball in his hands to be successful. He would not have taken away from the touches of stars like Tatum and Brown if he was still a part of the roster, however, he was traded from the team and simply another pick that we wish would have worked out.
