Washington Wizards: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
Washington Wizards offseason move No. 5: Find value with pick No. 15
The Wizards have the 15th pick in the 2021 NBA draft and they need to use this wisely. This is the first pick outside the lottery but that does not mean that there is not a possibility of finding a hidden gem, particularly given how deep the current draft is.
There have been some seriously talented players taken with this pick in previous drafts. In 1986 Dell Curry was taken with the 15th pick by the Utah Jazz. Ten years later the incredible Steve Nash was taken in the middle of the first round.
However. the best players who have been selected at this spot in the draft have been taken in the last ten years, Kawhi Leonard was taken with this pick in 2011 and then Giannis Antetokounmpo was taken in the 2013 draft with pick No. 15.
When the draft enters the middle of the first round the picks tend to be more hit and miss. The Wizards need to make sure that they get the best available talent at this pick so that they can continue to develop this franchise around Westbrook and Beal. If they can do this and have a healthier season next year then the Wizards should be a playoff-bound squad for a number of years to come.
