Philadelphia 76ers move to make No. 3: Re-sign Furkan Korkmaz

After spending four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Furkan Korkmaz has developed into a really good rotation piece for the franchise. In fact, he is not far from being a starter on this team. When Green went down with an injury in the second round against the Atlanta Hawks, it was Korkmaz who started in his place.

Korkmaz has worked diligently on his 3-point shooting. In his rookie year, Korkmaz shot the long ball at 29.4 percent. This went up slightly in his second year where he went 32.6 percent from behind the long line. All that you can ask of a young player is to improve.

Last season Korkmaz shot the ball at 40.2 percent on 4.9 attempts. This season his percentage regressed slightly to the mean and he shot the ball at 37.5 percent from 3-point land. This is relevant because Korkmaz has the ability to heat up from deep, bringing a new complexion to any game which is something that any team needs.

Korkmaz has averaged about $1.5 million a season over the four years so he will potentially be looking to get a decent payday. If the 76ers can get him for about $5.0 million with the expectation that he is going to become a more consistent scorer, then this is a good move.
