Philadelphia 76ers move to make No. 2: Re-sign Danny Green

As mentioned earlier, Danny Green bought championship-winning experience to a 76ers team that needed someone to be a leader. Green showed his importance to this franchise when he went off injured against the Hawks.

Green is a tremendous two-way talent, a 3-and-D player who is as good defensively and he is at shooting the 3-ball. He was more open this season thanks to the play of Embiid and as a result, shot the 3-ball at 40.5 percent. This then had the effect of allowing Embiid to beat a player one-on-one as defenses were not able to cheat off Green when he was on the perimeter.

The fact that Green took 6.3 of his 7.9 shot attempts from beyond the arc showed that the 76ers valued his floor spacing ability. He was also a big part of the defense, averaging 1.3 steals per game. As he played on the perimeter next to Ben Simmons this means that the 76ers were hard to score against.

The 76ers do not have a huge amount of room to re-sign players but if they manage to trade Simmons, they make room for Green. If not, then they can try to sign Green to a smaller amount than last season and still be under last season’s salary bill. This will put them in the luxury tax again but if the 76ers believe they can win the championship, they will gladly pay it.
