The Philadelphia 76ers were the best team in the East all season. They had their title challenged by the Brooklyn Nets when James Harden joined them, but at the end of the regular season, the 76ers were the No. 1 seed and deservedly so.
Joel Embiid was having an MVP-type season where he dominated all-comers. He averaged 28.5 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.0 steals in 31.1 minutes per game. He was so good, the only way to defend him was to double or triple-team him and sometimes, just hoped that he missed the shot.
However, the Sixers fell to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in a really hard-fought seven-game series. Embiid was again huge but was battling a torn meniscus which he suffered against the Washington Wizards in the previous series. It obviously hampered him and cost the 76ers a chance at the Finals.
The talent the Philadelphia 76ers added to their roster helped them all season
Before the season the Philadelphia 76ers basically traded Al Horford to the OKC Thunder and in return received Danny Green. There were other pieces to the trade but they were inconsequential Green was huge for the franchise with his championship experience but they also lost him to injury during the Hawks series as well.
The 76ers also made a trade prior to the season with the Dallas Mavericks to acquire Seth Curry. The younger Curry brother was an incredible floor spacer, shooting the ball at 45.0 percent on the season.
The 76ers made a second trade with the OKC Thunder, this time at the trade deadline. The important pieces were Tony Bradley going to the Thunder and George Hill coming back to the 76ers. Hill was to become a key reserve for the 76ers, especially after Green went down.
Now, let’s look at the five offseason roster moves the Philadelphia 76ers need to make.
