Portland Trail Blazers: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
Portland Trail Blazers offseason move No. 3: Re-sign Enes Kanter
The player who stepped up the most when Nurkic went down was Enes Kanter. The big man averaged a double-double for the season with 11.2 points and 11.0 rebounds which is incredible for a bench player, but Kanter makes this seem commonplace with the Blazers.
This was not the first time that Kanter has stepped in for the injured Nurkic. When the Bosnian Beast went down with his broken leg prior to the playoffs a couple of years ago, Kanter stepped in and started. The result was a very deep playoff run where only the Golden State Warriors were able to stop them with a Western Conference Finals sweep.
While Kanter’s defensive struggles are incredibly well documented, he is an offensive livewire. He collected 3.9 offensive rebounds per game which is incredibly impressive. When you give your team almost four extra shots by yourself, you know you are onto a good thing.
Kanter seems very comfortable in Portland and the Trail Blazers seem to know how to utilize Kanter to get the best out of him. It will surely only be a matter of price and Kanter will likely sacrifice a little bit of money to stay with the Blazers.
