Portland Trail Blazers offseason move No. 1: Re-sign Carmelo Anthony

A big reason for the Blazers being able to stay in the playoff hunt while the two starters were injured.was the play of Carmelo Anthony. The veteran was huge again this season averaging 13.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks in just 24.5 minutes per game.

Anthony can’t play the minutes that he used to when he was younger. At the age of 37 though this is an incredible level of production. This is especially so considering he was efficient, especially from deep when he shot 40.9 percent on his 4.7 attempts.

Anthony’s experience on the floor was crucial for the Blazers at the end of the game. His ability to make the big shot took some of the pressure off McCollum and Lillard. Teams could not defend the stars as closely because of this third option.

As mentioned earlier, he is 37 but to look at Anthony when he is on the court, you would not know it. He still has a chip on his shoulder from when he was cut and no NBA team wanted him. Anthony will give anything to the Blazers that he can, they showed faith in him when no one else would last season.
