Miami Heat offseason roster move No. 1: Trade Tyler Herro

Tyler Herro was massive for the Heat in their Finals run last season. However, he did not live up to his 2019-20 season hype in the season 2020-21 season and the Heat suffered a little as a result. However, Herro should not be traded for just anyone, he is way too talented to be given away.

The Heat needs to explore a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. The player the Heat need to target is Brandon Ingram. Obviously, there is a massive disparity between these contracts (and the quality of both players) so the Heat would either need to involve another player or another team in this deal.

Ingram’s skillset would really mesh well with those of Bam Adebayo and team leader Jimmy Butler. He also has the length and ability to defend players that Herro cannot. The Heat would also be able to stagger his minutes with Butler’s keeping a dangerous wing on the floor at all times.

The Pelicans are in desperate need of more 3-point shooting and Herro is able to provide some of that. His shot creation will help Zion Williamson, and he will be able to develop chemistry together as they are similar in age. Pat Riley will need to be at his creative best to make this one work.
