NBA Draft Profile: Overall outlook for Cade Cunningham

Cade Cunningham is the real deal. His floor is already very high thanks to his physical attributes, skills, leadership and intelligence. It would be hard to go wrong picking him first overall in this NBA draft and patting yourself on the back for a job well done.

Cunningham has had this No. 1 Pick label on him since his days in prep school at Montverde and before that, and even with all the scrutiny and eyes on him, he’s done nothing to play his way out of this spot. Even with talented young players like Green, Mobley and Suggs on his heels, he’s maintained his place at the top of the pecking order.

Teams like the Houston Rockets crave Cunningham, but the ball is in the court of the Detroit Pistons, who hold that first overall pick. Last season Jerami Grant had to carry a massive load for the Pistons, but Cunningham is a caliber of player that can step right in and produce and lessen the crush on his shoulders from Day 1 in Detroit.

As the total package, Cade Cunningham will make an excellent first overall pick and future Detroit Piston.
