2021 NBA Draft: 8. Davion Mitchell compares to Kyle Lowry

He might be small in stature but Davion Mitchell is a fearless offensive dynamo. After leading the Baylor Bears to an improbable win against Gonzaga in the championship, Mitchell solidified himself as a lottery pick.

On most nights, Mitchell will be the smallest player on the court but much like his NBA pro comparison Kyle Lowry, Mitchell plays with a heart much bigger than his physical size. Baylor was one of the best defensive teams in all college basketball, mostly because of the defensive pressure Mitchell placed on opposing ball handlers.

Lowry also gets into his competition with relentless pressure, drawing charges and getting his hands in the passing lanes. Both diminutive guards are efficient despite their size. Leaving them alone at the 3-point line is always a regrettable mistake. Just last season, Lowry knocked in 39.6% of his shots from distance. Mitchell was even more impressive, connecting on 44.7 from behind the arc.

Uptempo is the name of the game for both Lowry and Mitchell. And while Lowry got off to a slow start in his career before ultimately settling in as a multiple-time All-Star, expect Mitchell to play much better from the jump.
