2021 NBA Draft: 4. Jalen Suggs compares to Jrue Holiday

Jalen Suggs will always be remembered for hitting one of the most iconic shots in college basketball history. While it was impressive and significant, so was his entire freshman season.

Gonzaga has never been known for its ability to produce high-quality ballplayers. Outside of the impossibly great John Stockton and budding young star Domantas Sabonis, the next best player that Gonzaga has sent to the league is arguably Adam Morrison.

Needless to say, Morrison was a colossal bust. Still, while their track record isn’t pristine, Suggs can change that. He isn’t super athletic. His speed is blinding but he gets exactly where he needs to be with little trouble. He doesn’t play above the rim but he’s put a few players on posters this past season. Suggs is a smooth operator and never appears to be in a rush. Despite the lack of athleticism, Suggs had little to no trouble scoring effectively as he hit over 50% of his shots.

Suggs shares most of the same attributes of current Milwaukee Bucks floor general, Jrue Holiday. Much like his much younger counterpart, Holiday abuses the competition with a sound jump shot and crafty game around the rim. Neither man is much of a passer, choosing to play make for themselves as opposed to others.

Suggs isn’t the defender that Holiday is but he has the potential. If he can lock up on that side of the ball, he’ll be a mirror image of Holiday.
