2021 NBA Draft: 30. Zaire Williams compares to Jonathan Isaac

The last time we saw Jonathan Isaac, he was finally starting to get it. He was a tall, lanky, kid filled with potential. He would finally start reaching that potential in year three. Isaac was nailing his 3-point shot, was more efficient from the field overall and was still a terror on defense.

For Zaire Williams out of Stanford, he flashed many of those same attributes. But, like most young players, he struggled with consistency. Despite being a top 10 high school recruit, Williams struggled to show why he was thought so highly of. He averaged 10.7 points and 4.6 rebounds but struggled with his shot all year long. He connected on only 29.1% from 3-point range and 37.4% from the field.

Regardless of his up and down play, Williams flashed plenty of potential. On January 7th, 2021, he recorded the first triple-double by a Stanford player since 2007 when he scored 12 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 10 assists. While his offense can be a bit spotty, he’s a terrific defender and versatile. Like Isaac, Williams can switch out on just about every position outside of a true big man.

If a team is looking for a strong defender and Swiss Army Knife on offense, they’ve got the right man.
