2021 NBA Draft: 25. Chris Duarte compares to Gary Harris

Chris Duarte was flat-out terrific for the Oregon Ducks. He poured in nightly averages of 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists. His efficiency numbers go through the roof when we take a closer look.

Duarte nailed 42.4% of his 3-point shots, 53.2% from the field overall and when it comes to his midrange game and ability to score inside, it was as though Duarte couldn’t miss as he connected on 63.1% from 2-point range.

For as good as Duarte is, at the age of 24, how much better can he expect to get? With the possibility that he’s maxed out as a player, we believe Duarte compares favorably to another player who seemingly plateaued at a young age in Garry Harris.

For the first four years of Harris’s career, his scoring averages were getting better and his efficiency numbers were taking noticeable leaps as well. Lately, though, he’s started to regress. Still, even with his backward trend, he’s a capable shooter and solid defender. Duarte will play a similar role with whatever team takes him. Due to his age, Duarte projects to have the same sort of career trajectory as Harris. But while that could ultimately mean that he regresses quickly, he can still be a valuable player on a bonafide contender.
