2021 NBA Draft: 23. Day’Ron Sharpe compares to DeAndre Jordan

Some players simply try to do too much. Whether they’re trying to prove something to themselves or their critics, sometimes, they can get out on a basketball court and simply do much more than needed. In the case of center Day’Ron Sharpe, he knows exactly who he is and doesn’t deviate from it.

North Carolina didn’t have its normal high-caliber year. Whether it was due to the uncertainty of the global pandemic or a lack of continuity, the Tar Heels just didn’t look right. One player, who had his moments though, is Day’Ron Sharpe. His numbers aren’t going to overwhelm anyone. He averaged 9.5 points and 7.6 rebounds but each and every night you knew what you were getting.

Sharpe runs hard on the fast break and finishes pretty decently around the basket. A team who rolls the dice on him can expect to inherit a DeAndre Jordan level player, just without as much athleticism. Sharpe didn’t attempt a single basket behind the arc. He also didn’t demand the ball down low, he spent most of his time finishing lobs and scoring off putbacks. It may not be the most glamorous of games but Sharpe will give you all-out effort each and every night.
