2021 NBA Draft: 20. Alperen Sengun compares to Domantas Sabonis

An intriguing overseas prospect is gracing our stage in Alperen Sengun. The competition on the other side of the world is always somewhat questionable. But the numbers Sengun managed to put up are not up for debate.

With 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals, Sengun is the sort of player NBA GMs can’t stop raving about. In somewhat of a surprising lack of development, Sengun isn’t much of a 3-point shooter. Instead, he looks to park his rear end down low and wreak havoc.

Sengun, if his development goes according to plan, could be a poor man’s Domantas Sabonis. Unlike big men today, Sabonis does most of his damage on the inside and from the elbow. He’s a much more skilled passer and dominant low post presence but he wasn’t always like that. With time and patience, Sengun could become a lesser but albeit still highly effective version of Sabonis.
