2021 NBA Draft: 14. Corey Kispert compares to Joe Ingles

Four year players are seemingly always undervalued nowadays. If said player was good enough, they would’ve made the jump to the pros long before their senior season arrived. Well, in the case of Corey Kispert, he needed all four years to develop. Now, one lucky team could receive a player who closely mirrors Utah Jazz forward, Joe Ingles.

Coming into the league, Ingles made his mark as a shooter. After biding his time in that role, he’s developed into a playmaker and very good assist man.

For Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert, his career could ultimately follow that same path. During each of his four years on the college level, Kispert raised his 3-point percentage. Just this past year, he became efficient everywhere on the floor, nailing over 50% of his shots from the field, 44% from distance and nearly 90% from the free-throw line (87.8%). For the past four years, Ingles has averaged at least 4.7 assists. In a sense, he’s become their de-facto point guard and although he isn’t creative offensively, he has terrific court vision.

In no way, shape or form is Kispert a playmaker but he has shown the ability to hit the open man for back door layups and shots on the perimeter. With more time to develop in that area, Kispert’s game will round into form.
